Satpura Thermal Power Station
Satpura Thermal Power Plant is located near to the Ghoradongri Railway station in Sarni village ofthe Betul district of Madhya Pradesh in the country. The power plant is one among the coal fired power plants of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company. Satpura Thermal Power Station has an installed capacity of 1330 Megawatt. The First unit was commissioned in October 1967.
Satpura Thermal Power Plant is commissioned in 1967. It has an approved capacity of 1330 Megawatt. The installed capacity is also 1330 Megawatt. The status of thermal power plant is Operational. The source of coal for the production of power is procured by the Rail/Road/Belf from the Western Coal Fields. Whereas the souce of water is from the Tawa Dam Lake area. The primary fuel used by the thermal power plant is Coal. This thermal station is owned and controlled by the Madhya Pradesh power generation company limited. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant is Madhya Pradesh and its neighbouring states.
The Unit Size of this thermal power plant is 1330 Megawatt (200 MW x 1 unit + 210 MW x 3 units + 250 MW x 2 units). There are six units in operation and they are from Unit 6 to Unit 11. Unit 1 to Unit 5 are decommissioned in the years 2014 January, 2013 December, 2012 October, 2013 December and 2013 February respectively.
In Stage 1, the first five units are commissioned. The first five units of stage 1 are commissioned in 1967 October, 1968 March, 1968 May, 1968 July and 1970 April respectively with an installed capacity of 62.5 Megawatt for each unit. In Stage 2, the sixth and seventh units are commissioned in 1979 July and 1980 September respectively with an installed capacity of 200 Megawatt and 210 Megawatt respectively. In Stage 3, the eighth and ninth units are commissioned in 1983 January and 1984 February respectively with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt for each units. At last in Stage 4, the tenth and eleventh units are commissioned in 2013 August and 2014 March respectively with an installed capacity of 250 Megawatt for each unit.
