Sewa-II Hydroelectric Project

Sewa-II Hydroelectric Project is located in the Sewa River of Kathua district in Jammu & Kashmir. The power project has a total installed capacity of 120 MW. The project type is Major as its capacity is greater than 25 MW. The water source for the project is Sewa River and the basin, where the river is flowing is Indus River ( up to International Border). The power project is erected in the Northern Hydroelectric Region of India and the Hydroelectric Development Type is Run of the River with Small Pondage.

The power station is owned by Central Government and the operating company of the plant is National Hydroelectric Power Corporation. Jammu & Kashmir is the beneficiary state of the plant. The structure type of plant is Dam. The name of the Dam, where the project is erected is Sewa St II Dam and the type of Dam is Gravity & Masonry. The main purpose of Dam is Hydroelectric Power Generation. Here the type of power house in the plant is Surface and the type of turbine installed in the power house is Pelton. The maker of both Turbine and Generator of the power station is by the BHEL of Bhopal. There are three units in operation and all of the units have a capacity of 40 MW each. So the total capacity of the plant is 120 MW.
