Simhapuri Thermal Power Station
Thamminapatnam power station also called as Simhapuri Thermal power station is a 600 Megawatt (MW) coal fired plant in Andhra Pradesh, India. Simhapuri Thermal Power Station is commissioned in 4th May 2012. The approved capacity of the thermal power plant is 600 Megawatt and the installed capacity is also 600 Megawatt. The Status of the power plant is running. The primary fuel used for the production of Power is Coal. The source of coal is imported. The source of water for the thermal plant in the generation of steam and cooling of plant is from Kandaleru creek. The first and second stage units of power plant is using Sub Critical Technology and Stage 3 is using Super Critical Technology. The Owner and Operator of the power plant is Simhapuri Energy Private Limited (SEPL).
The beneficiary states of the thermal power plant are Andhra Pradesh and its neighbouring states. The Unit Sizes of the thermal power plant are 600 Megawatt (150 Megawatt x 4 units). There are four units in operation in 2 stages. The third stage has two units with 660 Megawatt for each units. But it is yet to be commissioned and it is now cancelled.
In Stage 1, the first and second units are commissioned in 4 May 2012 and 15 July 2012 respectively with an installed capacity of 150 MW for each units. While in Stage 2, the third and fourth units are commissioned in 2014 and 2015 respectively with an installed capacity of 150 MW for each units. In Stage 3, the fifth and sixth units are proposed with an installation capacity of 660 MW each, but it is cancelled.

Simhapuri Thermal Power Station is located in the Thamminapatnam village of Chillakur taluk nearer to Gudur SPSR in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. You can come to this power plant via Road, Rail or Air. Nellore city is the nearest well-connected city to Thamminapatnam Thermal Power Station. You would get Buses or Taxis from the Nellore city to Power Station, which is about 32 kilometer away. Nellore Railway Station is the nearest well-connected Railway Station. There is no airport in Nellore and the nearest airport is Tirupati Airport.
