The Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP) is a coal-fired power station in Peddapalli, a village in Telangana, India. The power plant has an installed capacity of 1200 MW, consisting of two 600 MW units, and is operated by the Singareni Collieries Company.

Singareni Thermal Power Plant is commissioned in 25 September 2016. It has an approved capacity of 1200 Megawatt and the installed capacity is also 1200 Megawatt. The status of the power plant is Operational. The primary fuel used for the production of power is Coal. The source of coal is from Singareni Collieries. The power plant is utilizing the Sub Critical Technology. The Singareni Thermal Power Plant is owned by Singareni Collieries Company and it is operated by Steag Energy Services (India) Private Limited. The Engineering, Procurement and Construction(EPC) Contract of the power plant is taken by the Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited and McNally Bharat Engineering Company Limited, Kolkata. The EPC Contract includes the manufacture of Boiler, Turbine and Generator of the Plant.

The beneficiary states of the thermal power plant are Telangana and its neighbouring states. The total cost of the power plant is INR 8250 Crores. The unit sizes of the thermal power plant is 1200 Megawatt (2 unit x 600 Megawatt). There are two units in operation and they are Unit 1 and Unit 2. Both of the units are built in Stage 1. The first unit is commissioned in 25 September 2016 with an installed capacity of 600 Megawatt and the second unit is commissioned in 2 December 2016 with an installed capacity of 600 Megawatt. Unit 3 is proposed in Stage 2 with an approved capacity of 800 Megawatt. But it is only in planning stage and is yet to be commissioned. The technology used by third unit is Super Critical.

How to Reach: Singareni Thermal Power Plant is located in the Peddapalli village of Jaipur Mandal in the district of Adilabad in Telangana. You can arrive this coal based power plant via road, rail or air. By Road, it is easy to reach Peddapalli Power Plant via Bus or Taxi from the nearest towns and cities. Peddapalli Railway Station is the nearest Railway Station. Currently there is no airport in Peddapalli and the nearest airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport of Hyderabad, which is about 162 kilometer away.
