Sorang Hydroelectric Project

The Sorang Hydroelectric project is commissioned in 2012. It has an installed capacity of 100 Megawatt. The type of Project is Major, since greater than 25 Megawatt. The unit sizes of power plant is 100 Megawatt (50 MW x 2 units). There are 2 units in operation with an installed capacity of 50 Megawatt each. All the two units are commissioned.

How to Reach: The Sorang Hydroelectric Project is erected in the Sorang River of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh. You can arrive this destination via Bus, Plane or Rail. Transport Buses are available from any town of Kullu district to the Power Station. Also the place is well-connected to the cities like New Delhi, Chandigarh, Pathankot and Shimla. The closest airport to Kullu is Bhuntar airport which is around 10 km away from the heart of the city. The other nearest airport is Chandigarh. Jogindernagar is the nearest railway station located near Kullu which is at a distance of around 125 km.
