SUGEN (Torrent Power) Gas Power Plant is situated in Gujarat. The location of the plant can be tracked at Akhakhol village, Surat District, Gujarat State, India. The overall installed capacity of Sugen Power Plant Akhakhol of Gujarat is 1147.5 MWe.

Sugen Mega Power Project Surat is served as base load in Gujarat State and is a fully operating plant. this is a combined cycle gas turbine power plant and the gas supply needed for 90% PLF is 5.51. The linkage needed is 4.06 and the power is mainly connected to the regional grid. Here natural gas is used as the primary fuel and the main source of fuel is from the 22 km spur line connecting the plant with GSPLS Mora-Ankleshwar gas pipeline at Bhadol village. Tapti river and wells with demineralization plant is the main source of water. In 2007, the capital cost of the plant is Rs 3096 Crores.

The plant has 3 different units, each with an installed capacity of 382.5 MWe. The first and second units are commissioned on 20-November-2008 and 07-May-2009 respectively. The third unit is commissioned on 08-June-2009. Siemens is the turbine and generator manufacturers and Doosan Heavy is the boiler manufacturer of the plant. The turbine models used in different units are: CCGT-1 SGT5-5000F, CCGT-2 SGT5-5000F and CCGT-3 SGT5-5000F (for units 1, 2 and 3 respectively). Torrent Power Generation Limited (TPGL) is the owner of the plant and Siemens, AG of Germany is the construction contractor. Consortium of IDFC, IDBI, PFC, Punjab National Bank, UCO Bank and Canara Bank are the financers of the plant and Torrent Power Generation Limited (TPGL) is the operating company of the plant.
