Uranium Mines in India
There are mainly four different Uranium mines located in India. These four mines are located in Jharkhand. They are namely: Banduhurang Uranium Mine, Jaduguda Uranium mine and Mill, Narwapahar Uranium Mine and Turamdeh Uranium Mine and Mill.
1. Banduhurang Uranium Mine India
The Banduhurang Uranium Mine is located at Turamdih, 7 km SSW of Jamshedpur, East Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, India. The geological formation of the mine is from Singhbum Thrust Belt (STB). The mining area was discovered in the year 2007and the total mining capacity of the mine is 100 tonnes/year. The Uranium Ore is Evacuated by using truck and is done by Turamdeh Mill. The waste and produced water, disposition of tailings are done on tailing ponds. The main environmental issue for the plant is runoff during rains. This is a central government ownership type mine. Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) is the owner and the operating company of the mine.

2. Jaduguda Uranium mine and Mill India
The Jaduguda Uranium mine and Mill is located at Jaduguda, East Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, India. The geographical formation of the mine is from Singhbum Thrust Belt (STB). In the year 1967, the mining area was discovered and the type of mine is underground. Horizontal cut and fill method. The purity of U3O8 in the ore ranges from 0.04 to 0.06 and the total mining capacity of U3O8 is 400 tonnes/year. The uranium ore is evacuated by conveyor belt to mill and is done through Jaduguda Mill. Increase mill processing capacity from 2090 to 2500 tonnes ore per day. the total capacity of the uranium mill is 400 tonnes/year. The waste and produced water, disposition of tailings are done by open tailing ponds. The main environmental issue of the mine is the tailing ponds often overflow, Pipes burst. In this mine, the ore lenses are hosted in metamorphic rocks of Proterozoic age. This is a central government ownership mine, the owner and the operator of the mine is Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL).

3. Narwapahar Uranium Mine India
The Narwapahar Uranium Mine India is situated at Narwapahar, 11 km SE of Jamshedpur, 10 kw WNW of Jaduguda, East Singhbhum district, Jharkand, India. The geological formation of the mine is from Singhbum Thrust Belt (STB) and this is an underground type mine. The purity of U3O8 in the mine varies from 0.04 to 0.06 and the uranium ore is evacuated by truck with the facility of Jaduguda Mill. The disposition of tailings, waste and producer water is with open tailing ponds and the main environmental issue of the mine is tailing ponds often overflow, Pipes burst. This is a central government ownership mine. The owner and operating company of the mine is Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL).

The Turamdih Uranium Mine and Mill is situated at Turamdih, 7 km SSW of Jamshedpur, East Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, India. The mine was discovered in September 2003. This is an underground type mine and the geological formation of the mine is from Singhbum Thrust Belt (STB). The purity of U3O8 in the ore is 0.034, the uranium ore is evacuated by truck with Turamdih Mill. Open tailing ponds functions waste and produced water management, disposition of tailings. The main environmental issue of the mine is Overflow of water from tailing ponds into nearby villages in the year 2008. This is a central government ownership type mine. The owner and the operating company of the mine is Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL).
