Uri 1 Hydroelectric Project

Uri 1 Hydroelectric Project is located in the Jhelum River of Uri town in the Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. The power project is commissioned in the year, 1997 with a total installed capacity of 480 MW. The river in which the water is sourced for the project is Jhelum and its basin is Indus River (up to International Border). The power project is located in the Northern Hydroelectric Region of India. The power project is completed in 1997 and it is now Operational.

The power station is owned by Central Government and the operating company of the plant is NHPC or National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited. The structure type of power plant is Barrage and the name of the Barrage/ Weir is Uri Barrage. The type of power house built for the project is Underground and it is completed in 1997. The type of turbine installed in the power house is Francis and it is manufactured by Kvanerner-Boving of Norway/UK. Also the generator is manufactured by ABB of Sweden. There are four units in Operation and all are commissioned. The unit size of the power plant is 480 MW having 4 units of 120 MW each.
