Vishnuprayag Hydroelectric Project

Vishnuprayag Hydroelectric Project is erected in the Alaknanda River near to Lambagar village in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand in India. The hydroelectric project is commissioned in 2006, which is having an installed capacity of 400 MW. The type of plant is Dam having run of river generation. The type of power house is underground having 4 units of 100 MW each. The status of power plant is Operational. The source of river water for generation of power is from Alaknanda River. The hydroelectric region, where the plant is located is Northern Hydroelectric Region. The hydroelectric basin of power plant is Ganga Basin. The type of Daw is Diversion Barrage.

The power project is owned by a self financing company called Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JPVL). It’s a private company. The beneficiary states are Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and other nearby states. The power project is completed and started its operations in 2006. The total number of turbines in the plant is four and capacity per turbine is 100 MW. The type of turbine used in the power house is Pelton. The unit size of power plant is 400 MW having four units of 100 MW each. There are four units and all the units are commissioned.
