Kolaghat Thermal Power Station
Kolaghat Thermal Power Station is a coal fired power plant, located in the Mecheda town of Medinipur district in the state of West Bengal. The status of the power plant is Operational. The power plant was commissioned in 1984. The owner and operator of the thermal power plant is West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited. The primary fuel used for the generation of power is Coal. There are 6 units in Operation with an installed capacity of 210 MW for each unit. The total installed capacity of the power plant is 1260 Megawatt. The manufacture of equipment for the power plant is done by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and Siemens.
Bakreswar Thermal Power Station
Bakreswar Thermal Power Station is located in the Chinpai and Bhurkuna village in the Birbhum district of West Bengal. It is a coal fired power station. The status of the power plant is running. The power plant was first commissioned in 1999. The owner of the power plant is West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited. There are five units in Operation and each of the units has an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The total installed capacity of the power plant is 1050 Megawatt (5 units x 210 Megawatt).
Sagardighi Thermal Power Project
Sagardighi Thermal Power Project is located in the Sagardighi block of Murshidabad district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is coal fuelled power project. The status of the power plant is Operational. The first unit is commissioned in 7 September 2008. The operator of the thermal power plant is WBPDCL. The type of primary fuel used is Bituminous Coal. The tertiary fuel used is Oil. The total installed capacity of the thermal power plant is 1600 MW. There are four units in operation. The first and second unit have an installed capacity of 300 Megawatt each and the third and fourth units have an installed capacity of 500 Megawatt.
Bandel Thermal Power Station is a coal based power station, located in the urban area of Bandel in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. The status of power plant is running. There are five units in operation. They are from Unit 1 to Unit 5. The first unit of the plant is commissioned in 4 September 1965 and the last unit is commissioned in 20 March 1983. The owner of the thermal power plant is West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited. The primary fuel used is Bituminous Coal. There are five units in operation. The first four units have an installed capacity of 60 Megawatt each and the fifth unit have an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. So the total installed capacity of Bandel Power Plant is 450 Megawatt. Renovation and modernisation of 215 Megawatt unit is modified from 210 Megawatt.
Santaldih Thermal Power Station
Santaldih Thermal Power Station is located in the Para block of Purulia district in the state of West Bengal. The status of the power plant is running. The power plant is owned by WBPDCL. The first unit of the plant is commissioned in 1 January 1974. The primary fuel to be utilized is Coal. It have a total installed capacity of 500 MW (2x250 MW).
