Yamuna Hydroelectric Project

Yamuna Hydroelectric Project is located in the Yamuna River of Dakpathar Barrage in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. Here the total installed capacity of the all power plants in the project is 474.75 MW. The type of project is Major and the hydroelectric development type is Run of the River in Small Pondage. The name of the barrage in the project is Dakpathar Barrage. The river where the project is implemented is Yamuna and the basin is Ganga. The power plant is installed in the Northern Hydroelectric Region of the country. The Hydroelectric Basin of plant is Ganga Basin.

The power project is owned by the Uttarakhand State Government and the operating company is Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (UJVNL). The beneficiary states of the power project are Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The name of one of the power house built for the project is Dhakrani Power House and the type of turbine installed in it is Kaplan. The maker of Turbine in the Dhakrani power house is Litostroj, Yugoslovia and the maker of Generator is Rade-Koncar, Yugoslovia. The project is shared as Interstate.
