Yermarus Thermal Power Station
Yermarus Thermal Power Station is a 1600 Megawatt coal fired thermal power plant erected at the Yermarus village in the Raichur district of Karnataka. The power plant is sponsored by the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL). This is country's first 800 Megawatt power station usingthe super critical technology and the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (jointly ventured with Karnataka Power Corporation) is the EPC contractor for this power project.
Yermarus Thermal Power Station is commissioned in March 2016. The Approved capacity of the thermal power plant is 1600 Megawatt and the installed capacity is also 1600 Megawatt. The status of the power plant is Operational. The primary fuel used for the generation of power is Coal. The source of coal is from domestic coal mines. The source of water for the cooling of the power plant is Krishna River. The power plant is using Super Critical Technology. The Yermarus Thermal Power Station is owned and operated by the Karnataka Power Corporation. The Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor of the power plant is BHEL. The boiler, turbine and generator manufacturer of the Yermarus Thermal Power Station is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Karnataka and its neighbouring states.
The Approved Investment on the power project is around INR 8806.23 Crores. The Unit Sizes of the thermal power plant is 1600 Megawatt (2 units x 800 Megawatt). There are two units in Operation. They are Unit 1 and Unit 2. The first unit is commissioned in March 2016 with an installed capacity of 800 Megawatt and the second unit is also commissioned in March 2017 with an installed capacity of 800 Megawatt.
