Karbi Langpi Hydroelectric Project

Karbi Langpi Hydroelectric Project is located in the Borpani River on Karbi Dam of Karbi Anglong district in Assam. The first unit of power project is commissioned in 2007 with an installed capacity of 50 MW. The total installed capacity of power plant is 100 MW. The current status of power project is Operational. The type of plant is a Dam with Run of the River generation. The name of dam, where the project is erected is Karbi Dam and the type of Dam is Concrete Gravity Dam. The water source for power generation is Borpani River and the basin is Brahmaputra. The power plant is erected in the North Eastern Hydroelectric Region of the country.

The owner of the power plant is Assam State Government and the operating company is Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB). The total number of Turbines installed in the power house is two and the type of turbine used is Francis. The maker of both Turbine and Generator of the power house is by the Fuji Japan. Here the specific speed of Turbine in the power house is 500 rpm. The total number of plant units is two and all are commissioned. So the unit size of the plant is 100 MWe having two units of 50 MW each.
