Karnataka Power Corporation Limited
Karnataka is popular in Power Generation as the state is considered as to establish the Asia’s first hydroelectric power station and it was in Shivanasamudram on the banks of river Cauvery in 1902. KPCL currently has an installed capacity of around 8800 Megawatt (as on December, 2017) of thermal, hydro, solar and wind energy.
Thermal Power Plants
1. Bellary Thermal Power Station
Bellary Thermal Power Station has 2 units – Unit 1 and Unit 2. Both of the units have an installed capacity of 500 Megawatt for each units.
2. Bellary Thermal Power Station Unit-III
The third unit of Bellary Thermal Power Station has an installed capacity of 700 Megawatt.
3. Bidadi 2nd Stage Gas Based Project
The status of Bidadi 2nd Stage Gas Based Project is Under Proposal. The power plant would have an installed capacity of 700 Megawatt
4. Bidadi Gas Based Combined Cycle Power Plant
Bidadi Gas based combined cycle power plant is approved with an installed capacity of 700 Megawatt.
5. Edlapur Thermal Power Station
Edlapur Thermal Power Station, which is a joint venture with RPCL is in Proposed Stage. The power plant would have an installed capacity of 800 Megawatt.
6. Godhna Thermal Power Station
The Status of the Godhna Thermal Power Station is approved. It would have an installed capacity of 1600 MW from 2 units. Each of the unit would have 800 MW.
7. Kalaburagi Thermal Power Station (Proposed)
8. Raichur Thermal Power Station
Raichur Thermal Power Station would have 8 units. 7 units (210 Megawatt each) would have an installed capacity of 1470 Megawatt and the remaining eighth unit would have a capacity of 250 Megawatt.
9. Tadadi Combined Cycle Power Plant
Tadadi Combined Cycle Power Plant is proposed and it would have an installed capacity of 2100 Megawatt.
10. Yelahanka Gas Based Projects
The Yelahanka Gas based project is approved and it would have an installed capacity of 350 Megawatt.
11. Yeramarus (2×800 MW) Thermal Power Station
Yeramarus Thermal Power Station, which is a joint venture with RPCL would have an installed capacity of 1600 Megawatt. There are two units having 800 Megawatt each.
Hydel Power Plants
Almatti Dam Power House has an installed capacity of 290 Megawatt in 6 units.
2. Bhadra Left Bank Canal Powerhouse
Bhadra Left Bank Canal Powerhouse have 3 units, having an installed capacity of 26 Megawatt.
3. Bhadra Right Bank Canal Powerhouse
Bhadra Right Bank Canal Powerhouse have 2 units, with 7.2 Megawatt and 6 Megawatt each. The entire capacity of power plant is 13.20 Megawatt.
4. Ganekal Mini Hydel Scheme
Ganekal Mini Hydel Scheme power plant comprises of 1 unit with 0.35 Megawatt.
5. Gerusoppa Hydro Electric Project
Gerusoppa Hydro Electric Project comprises of 4 Units of 60 Megawatt each. The plant would have an entire capacity of 240 Megawatt.
6. GhataprabhaHydel
Ghataprabha Hydel Power Station has an entire capacity of 20 Megawatt from 2 units having 10 Megawatt each. The power plant is approved.
7. Ghataprabha Dam Power House
Ghataprabha Dam Power House has an entire capacity of 32 MW from 2 units having 16 MW each.
8. Gundia Hydel Project (Proposed)
Gundia Hydel Project has a total capacity of 400 MW from 2 units each having 200 MW.
Kadra Dam Power House has 3 units with an entire capacity of 150 Megawatt (3 x 50 MW).
10. Kalmala Mini Hydel Scheme
Kalmala Mini Hydel Scheme has a single unit with capacity of 0.40 Megawatt.
Kodasalli Dam Power House has three units having 40 Megawatt capacity for each units. So the entire capacity is 120 MW.
12. Linganamakki Power House
Linganamakki Power House has 2 Units with a capacity of 27.5 MW for each units. So the installed capacity is 55 MW.
13. Mahatma Gandhi Hydro Electric Station
Mahatma Gandhi Hydro Electric Station has 8 units with an installed capacity of 21.6 Megawatt for each first four units and 13.2 Megawatt for each rest of four units. So the entire capacity is 139 Megawatt.
14. Mallapur Mini Hydel Scheme
Mallapur Mini Hydel Scheme have 2 Units with 4.5 MW each. It has an entire capacity of 9 Megawatt.
15. Mani Dam Power House
Mani Dam Power House has 2 units of 4.5 Megawatt each.
16. Munirabad Hydro Power Station (Ongoing)
Munirabad Hydro Power Station has 1 unit with a capacity of 10 Megawatt.
17. Munirabad Hydro Power House
Munirabad Hydro Power House has 3 units with 9 Megawatt for first two units and 10 Megawatt for third unit.
Nagjhari Power House has a total capacity of 885 MW with five units of 150 MW and one unit of 135 MW.
19. Sharavathy Generating Station
Sharavathy Generating Station has 10 Units with 103.5 MW for each units with a capacity of 1035 MW.
20. Shimsha Hydro Electric Station
Shimsha Hydro Electric Station has 2 Units with an entire capacity of 17.20 Megawatt.
21. Shivasamudram Seasonal Scheme (Proposed)
It is a planned power project with a proposed total capacity of 345 MW.
22. Sir Sheshadri Iyer Hydro Electric Station (Shivasamudram)
Sir Sheshadri Iyer Hydro Electric Station has an entire capacity of 42 Megawatt with 6 Megawatt for each of the 4 units and 3 Megawatt for each of the 6 units.
Supa Dam is the second largest dam in Karnataka. It has 2 units of 50 Megawatt each with an entire installed capacity of 100 Megawatt.
24. Varahi Hydro Electric Project
Varahi Hydro Electric Project has an installed capacity of 460 Megawatt.

Itnal Solar PV Plant has an entire capacity of 3 Megawatt
2. Kappatagudda Wind Energy Scheme
Kappatagudda Wind Energy Scheme has 20 Units with an entire installed capacity of 4.555 Megawatt.
3. Shimsha Solar Photovoltaic Plant, Shimshapur, Mandya Dist.
Shimsha Solar PV Plant has an entire capacity of 5 Megawatt
4. Yapaldinni Solar Photovoltaic Plant, Raichur District
Yapaldinni Solar PV Plant has a total installed capacity of 3 Megawatt
